12 days left until the asteroid Matilda is scheduled to hit the Earth. Dodge Petersen wakes up in a park with a dog tied to his leg and a note saying, "Sorry". At home later, he finds a letter from Olivia, the love of his life and decides to go find her. When a riot approaches his apartment building, he wakes up Penny and they flee in her car.

After Penny's car runs out of gas, Glenn picks them up. When Glenn gets shot. Dodge and Penny bury Glenn and take his truck to Friendsy's, leaving when an orgy breaks out and having sex in Glenn's truck. Then they get arrested.

Dodge and Penny are released from jail. Trenton police drive them to Camden at Penny's ex-boyfriend Speck's house, where Penny calls her folks on Speck's satellite phone. They borrow a car from Speck and drive to Dodge's ex-girlfriend Olivia's house. There's nobody home so Penny makes dinner.

Dodge and Penny drive to his ex-girlfriend Olivia's house, where he leaves a letter for her. They stop at a beach where people are lined up to get baptized. They go to Dodge's father Frank's house and eat dinner. Frank's father and Penny fly off into the night, while Dodge heads back home.

Dodge returns home to find his housekeeper Elsa cleaning his apartment. The final CGS news broadcast reveals that the asteroid Matilda will be arriving a week earlier than expected. There are only 16 hours left. Penny shows up, having made Frank turn the plane around.
