September 20
Unification Day, an annual holiday commemorating the day when the Unification War between the Union of Allied Planets and Independents ended, and the outer planets came under the control of the Alliance, is celebrated on September 20 - the date that The Train Job first aired. When a drunk bar patron named Lund celebrates the sixth anniversary of the Alliance's victory on Unification Day with a toast, Mal picks a fight. Zoe immediately backs him up, Jayne hesitates but reluctantly joins the fight. While the actual date was never mentioned, it was later confirmed by actor Nathan Fillion on Twitter.
